Fun Filled Weekend

I have to say this was a great weekend! Friday night we took the kids to the drive in to watch Marmaduke. It was a really cute movie and it was so nice being outside. We love going to the drive in, the price is great and it is so nice to be sitting under the stars. Saturday we spent the day swimming at Nita & Lamar's, the weather was great, the kids loved being in the pool. Then we came home and grilled and had of course smores (I think the kids ask for them every weekend). Sunday we went to church and had lunch at Stix (another thing the kids ask for every weekend) and then spent the afternoon at the lake. We had so much fun this weekend. I love my family and the time we spend together!

My little ballerina takes the stage tonight!

Tonight is Madi's big night on stage. She will be performing at the Alabama Theater. This is her 5th time to take the stage in a recital, we are only considering it her 4th year of dance since her first year was Mommy & Me and yes I was on stage dancing with her that year. I try not to think about that day! My friend Susan says that there is no way that she can count this as Sydney's 5th year of dance if I didn't count it as Madi's because she went on vacation the week of Mommy & Me recital and did not perform! I love Madi taking dance and it is really special to me and my mom because she takes from my dance teacher Miss Kim, who we love dearly. I can't wait to see my little ballerina take the stage again tonight....

Growing Kids

Garrett finished up school last week, so next year he will be a big 3rd grader, where has the time gone, I can remember him being so little when Greg and I started dating. He was in the nursery at church and now he is 8! This was Madi's last week of 1st grade, my little girl is growing up so fast. Tuesday was her awards program in her class, each of the students got to read a page from their journal that they write in daily. She look like such a big girl standing up there reading to her classmates and parents. She received several awards and ribbons. She finished up 1st grade making A-B honor roll all year! She won the talent show in her class a few weeks ago and today was the school talent show. She looked so nervous waiting on her turn to come. I kept looking over at her hoping that her nerves would not get the best of her. When it came to her turn, she got up, took the microphone and did so good. It was just precious! I was so proud of her and so was the rest of her cheering section (Poppie, Big Mama, Nana & Ashley). I just want to keep the kids little forever, I feel like they will be grown before I know it. I just love being a mommy to those little devils... I mean angels!

Mother's Day

I had a WONDERFUL Mother's Day weekend! I got to spending Friday night & Saturday morning catching up with Holly, who is a new mommy, it was GREAT to chat with her & to hold her little princess Bella. I have to get my baby fix every once in a while! Saturday I spent the day with my 2 favorite girls, my mom & Madi, we spent the day doing what we do best, Shopping! We have trained Madi well, she is now loving to shop, of course only for herself. We had lunch at a YUMMY new place a friend told me about and of course we had to get another YUMMY snack at the mall. Greg took me out to Firebirds Saturday night for dinner, we had to go childless, of course it was Madi's weekend to stay at mom's and she knew it, so even Mother's Day wasn't stopping her! Sunday I got to spend some time with my "mother-in-love" Barbara, we got to spend some time with her for Mother's Day & her birthday. I love going over there & watching movies with them, however at one time yesterday I think I was the only one awake watching the movie. Sunday night I spent great time with Madi laying her bed and snuggling before she went to sleep. I love my life, it is the best, I am so blessed & have so much to be thankful for.......

Talent Show

Madi got a sign up sheet for a 1st grade talent show. She has informed me that she is going to play her guitar and sing. She said Brooke, who is a 5th grader that rides her daycare van said that she could sing really good, so that's what she wants to do. I told her the one problem with that is that she does not know how to play her guitar! I am really pushing her toward doing a dance routine that she knows, she is really pushing for singing and playing her guitar. This should be interesting! If all else fails I guess she could play the guitar and sing Smelly Cat, thanks Holly!

Loving the warm weather

This weekend we had great weather & we loved every bit of it! Saturday the kids played outside, they had a picnic and that that it was just so much fun. I raised the windows in the house and loved having the fresh air coming in. Sunday the kids could not wait to get back outside & of course they wanted to have another picnic. I think that might become a normal weekend thing for them. Me & mom took them to Botanical Gardens & then over to my office (because we have this pretty water fountain) to take some pictures in their Easter outfits. They looked so cute in their matching outfits, before we left the house Greg kept telling them how sharp they looked & they were eating it up. The pictures went good, mom took over 200 & so many of them were good, everyone will be getting their Easter pictures of the kids soon. This weekend made me want summer to come even faster now.

Brother & Sister Love

Last night Garrett got to spend the night with us. When I told Madi that she had to do her homework when we got in she started in with let me watch TV for just a minute, I don't have that much homework, anything to get out of doing it right away. When I told her she had to get it done if she wanted to play with Garrett when he got there she was all for it. She was so excited that he was getting to come over in the middle of the week and spend the night. She tells me all the time that she wishes Garrett could live with us, of course I do to.

I was a little worried how they would act once we got married and were all at the same house but it has be great. The kids love being together and that makes us so happy! Madi knows when it is time for Garrett to come over for the weekend and Garrett bust through the door on the Friday he comes looking for Madi. It is so sweet! They play great together, they are always in each others room or outside playing. I prayed often for them to get along good before we got married and I can say that my prayers have been more than answered. They ask all the time when they are going to get a new brother or sister, our response is Madi you got a new brother Garrett and he got a new sister Madi! That's our way of keep the baby subject off their minds...

One more thing, I am pretty sure that my cousin Matt is not reading my blog. (ha ha) But we are very excited about him becoming pastor at Lee Baptist in Mount Olive. We know that him and Cheryl will do great there. We are praying for them and the church. We can't wait to come visit!

Madi's notebook...

The other day I was going through one of Madi's notebooks and I found this sweet letter that she had written. I am not sure if you can tell what it says but this is what she had wrote: Dir god, I love you vere muhe. Then she made a picture of him. Seeing this made my day! I am so glad that at her young age she already is expressing her love for God. It makes me feel so blessed!

So here it goes....

My mom has suggested many times that I start a blog, so here you go mom, I am going to give it a try. I figured it was great time to start one seeing that I have began a new chapter in my life. I recently got married, now I am a mommy to a daughter & a son and I have started a new job at work. So keeping in the spirit of new things, I thought it was time to give this blogging thing a try. I love reading people's blogs, so maybe someone will find mine a little interesting and give it a read!
